Glass is one of those crafting materials in Pokémon Pokopia that the game expects you to figure out on your own. No tutorial points you toward it, and yet you need it for specific crafting recipes and Pokémon Center rebuilds. Once you know where to look and what to toss into the furnace, producing Glass becomes a reliable part of your resource loop.
To make Glass in , you need to smelt one of three raw materials inside a Smelting Furnace:
All three produce Glass when burned, so whichever material you have the most of works fine. That said, Volcanic Ash is by far the most practical option once you reach the right area of the map.

Smelting Furnace in Rocky Ridges
The first Smelting Furnace you can access sits inside a cave in Rocky Ridges, which you discover during the main quest. This is also where Magmar lives, and that detail matters a lot: Magmar fuels the furnace automatically, so you do not need to worry about finding a separate fire source when you are smelting here.
If you do not have Magmar available, any Pokémon with the Burn ability can follow you to the furnace and handle the smelting instead.
infoVolcanic Ash spawns throughout Rocky Ridges in large quantities, making it the easiest and most abundant input for Glass production at this stage of the game.

Magmar powers the furnace
Here is a quick breakdown of each valid input material and how practical each one is:
| Material | Where to Find It | Abundance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volcanic Ash | Rocky Ridges (everywhere) | High | Best early-game option |
| Sand | Various locations | Moderate | Useful if Ash runs low |
| Sandstone | Rocky areas | Moderate | Works but less common than Ash |
Volcanic Ash wins for early-game Glass production simply because Rocky Ridges is covered in it. You can gather a large stack quickly and smelt it all in one session.
dangerSmelting takes real time to complete. If you want your Glass faster, you can use the time travel mechanic to skip the wait and collect your finished materials immediately.
You are not locked to the Rocky Ridges furnace forever. Magmar will eventually give you the crafting recipe for your own Smelting Furnace, which means you can build one wherever you set up your base. This opens up Glass production anywhere on the map without needing to trek back to Rocky Ridges every time.

Unlock your own furnace recipe
Glass serves two main purposes in :
If you are working through rebuild quests, stockpiling Glass early saves a lot of backtracking later. It is worth running a few smelting sessions in Rocky Ridges as soon as you unlock the furnace.
warningDo not wait until a rebuild quest demands Glass to start producing it. Smelting takes time, and scrambling for materials mid-quest slows your progress significantly.
Here is the full process from start to finish:
Once Magmar hands over the Smelting Furnace recipe, you can build your own and skip the Rocky Ridges trip entirely for future batches.
